LIFE WITHOUT FEAR - WHAT REMAINS WHEN NOTHING LINGERS ANYMORE
The fear does not disappear, but what it triggers in you does
This is the third volume in the series "Our Time"
A man stands facing the light. Calm.
Behind him, his shadow dissolves. Not towards him, but away from him. Nothing is held on to. Nothing continues.
Fear often does not begin with what happens, but with what continues afterwards. A thought. An inner voice. A feeling in the body. Something begins to move, becomes a story and carries the original moment far beyond where it actually ended.
LIFE WITHOUT FEAR begins exactly there. Not with fear itself, but with what happens when we continue it inside ourselves – and what may change when we no longer do.
Thoughts still arise. Feelings still appear. The body still reacts. But not everything has to become the beginning of something larger. A thought can end as a thought. A feeling can rise and settle again. A situation can remain where it happened instead of following us through the rest of the day.
That sounds almost too simple.
Perhaps because we have become so accustomed to continuing everything.
This book explores inner restlessness and overthinking, fear and control, thoughts and physical reactions – without adding another method to master or another version of ourselves to achieve.
Sometimes something begins.
And simply goes no further.
LIFE WITHOUT FEAR is for people who know what it is like to lose themselves in thoughts, to carry inner restlessness without an obvious reason or to feel fear becoming larger in the mind long after the original moment has passed.
This is not a guide to eliminating fear. There are no techniques to apply, step-by-step instructions to follow or promises that sufficient discipline will finally bring every thought and feeling under control.
Trying to control everything may, after all, be part of what keeps it going.
Instead, LIFE WITHOUT FEAR looks at what happens when thoughts, feelings and physical reactions are allowed to arise without automatically becoming a story that continues inside us.
A thought comes and goes. A feeling arises and loses its weight. The body reacts and settles again. Not because anything has been suppressed, defeated or forced away, but because nothing new has been added.
And within that, something quieter may appear.
Not created. Not forced.
Simply there.
Bernhard Christoph Lichtinger writes from lived experience – from setbacks, detours, new beginnings and encounters that never needed to be invented. His texts begin where real life leaves its mark.
