BACK TO REAL LIFE - OUT OF INNER PRESSURE

Letting go of self-optimisation, comparison and stress - the quiet path back to yourself

Volume 1 of the series "The Quiet Path"

A woman runs. Not back, but out.

Out of inner pressure, constant stress, self-optimisation and the persistent feeling of not being enough. Behind her are mirrors: comparison, judgement, adjustment. A life lived increasingly on the outside and increasingly distant from herself.

Until one thought becomes impossible to ignore:

This cannot go on.

BACK TO REAL LIFE is about a world in which the body becomes a project, life becomes a stage and self-worth becomes something to compare. Performance, visibility and evaluation creep into everyday life until even personal growth can begin to feel like another task that needs to be completed successfully.

The usual response is more effort. More discipline. More control. More optimisation.

Which is an interesting solution when optimisation has become part of the problem.

This book takes the opposite direction. It explores stress and inner restlessness, comparison and mental exhaustion, the longing for authenticity and the quiet loss of connection with our own measure.

It is not about becoming better or functioning more efficiently. It is about letting go of some of the pressure to become someone – and finding your way back to the life that is already yours.

BACK TO REAL LIFE is for people who function well on the outside while quietly wondering when life became something they had to keep up with.

It is not a motivational book, coaching programme or another guide to self-optimisation. There are no exercises for becoming more productive, visible, disciplined or successful.

There are probably enough people offering those already.

Instead, this book looks at what happens when comparison becomes habitual, expectations become pressure and the constant effort to improve ourselves begins to obscure the person underneath.

The way back is deliberately quieter: recognising your own limits, allowing simplicity again, stepping away from constant comparison and rediscovering an inner measure that does not depend on how everyone else appears to be living.

Not another version of yourself.

Yourself.

BACK TO REAL LIFE is Volume 1 of the four-book series THE QUIET PATH. Each volume can also be read independently.

Bernhard Christoph Lichtinger writes from lived experience – from setbacks, detours, new beginnings and encounters that never needed to be invented. His texts begin where real life leaves its mark.

The four books in the series THE QUIET PATH explore different aspects of our lives. Each volume stands on its own, so you can begin wherever the subject speaks to you most.
