As a teenager, he works his way through different jobs, first training as a photo lab technician, then as a toolmaker, and realises early on that life wants more from him: freedom, adventure, movement, a destiny of his own. These years shape the young man who longs to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Ralf – to finally set out into the world himself. 
His journey begins when he lands completely unprepared in Sri Lanka while Ralf disappears somewhere in India. It becomes a journey full of heat, dust, chaos, strange encounters and situations that lead dangerously close to the edge. Sri Lanka throws him into uncertainty, Thailand into temptation. 
And then something happens that changes everything.
In a breakfast room in Bangkok, Chris suddenly sees Suzanne – independent, beautiful, curious about the world
