BOOK 3: ANTI-CYCLICAL THINKING
* NEW SERIES, TRUE STORY *
Why this novel, of all things? Because in DON’T ASK FOR SUGAR, the author has captured his personal experiences from the 1985s in thrilling short stories that have it all and click together like the gears of a mechanical clock: Love, Betrayal, Espionage and Crime!
Imagine reading a book that is so incredible that it feels like a film – but every word is true! The three-part series DON’T ASK FOR SUGAR takes you from childhood onwards to the merciless desert of Australia, takes you up close and personal past the crushing poverty of India, up into Nepal’s mountains to lush marijuana fields, – and then through a border crossing into Russian-occupied East Germany that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page!

BEFORE that, a flashback of NOTHING REMAINS AS IT IS, the second book in the series. South India, Kerala, in the city of Kochi on the Malabar Coast. After their food poisoning, Marie-Louise and Christoph are discharged from hospital, but just a few days later the two brothers are already on a crowded train north without the Swedes because Ralf can’t postpone his Nepal mission. But what is it like to have a rotten stomach in such a crowd of sweaty bodies? The Indian toilets are also a nightmare, but now two days on the tracks, and only a few hours away from the Nepalese border, Christoph falls into a fainting sleep and is robbed. It is a catastrophe! His black travelling bag is gone, Christoph has nothing left, no money, no papers, nothing, just what he has on his person! Thanks to the financial help of his older brother Ralf, who nevertheless travels on to Kathmandu to complete the procurement tour alone, Christoph makes it to West Germany and flees to West Berlin to avoid compulsory military service. He now has a whole two weeks until his two short-term landlords return from their holiday in Greece, but is it possible to find an affordable flat in the city that never sleeps in such a short space of time? He certainly believes it is and luck is in his favour! He also gets a job, and yes – the luck, hooray, it’s back, but what did the fortune teller say? Christoph is put to a tough test in a faraway place!? A lot of shit did indeed happen in India – but it’s a lot further from Australia to West Berlin!
